Random Tidbit: My sea monkey is 9 years old!
Saturday, January 17th, 2009Shouldn’t this be in the record books or something?
In early 2000, I gave my friend Ian a gift of a biosphere when we both lived in Texas but he couldn’t take it with him so I resumed guardianship of it. At the time, it had 5 sea monkeys (brine shrimp) in it.
Over the years, all but one died, but the last one, named Thomas Hardy, is still around nine years later! The average life expectancy is 2 years. Isn’t nine sort of crazy?
(And yes, it’s the same one, because for many years now, I’ve only ever seen one at a time and I’m pretty sure they can’t reproduce on their own.)
