18-month-old jumper
April 15th, 2010It’s official.
Coral is 1 year and a half old today, and yesterday she began jumping for real. She could jump before, but she’d land with locked legs which worried me because I thought she’d jar her knees or hips. But she’s now started bending her knees upon landing, and she’s getting real air when she jumps.
I picked her up at daycare today and she was so hilarious, jumping, doing something else, randomly stopping to jump, doing something else, and so on. She climbed up onto a chair in the corner, leaned over and held onto a Pack n Play that was nearby, and started jumping on the chair, right on the edge of it.
I have to admit that as I parent, I feel pride and I’m not going to pretend to be all modest and stuff. However, every time she makes a new discovery or masters a new skill, it takes years off my life since she uses them in the most unintended of ways. As in, whatever she’s learned seems to be put towards her own destruction instead of something innocent and lovely. *sigh* What a double-edged sword!
